About The Position

This role involves assisting in the preparation and serving of food in a food and nutrition services setting. Responsibilities include maintaining a positive attitude, following recipes and menus, serving meals, storing food and supplies, handling transactions, cleaning dishes and equipment, and adhering to safety and sanitation standards. The position also requires compliance with program requirements and may involve training new staff. Compensation may increase based on relevant education and experience.

Requirements

  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude toward all students and staff.
  • Ability to prepare or assist in the preparation of a variety of foods, following standardized recipes and menus, price schedules, and portion controls in accordance with work production standards.
  • Ability to set up food serving lines and/or steam tables and serve meals, meal components, and beverages.
  • Ability to store food and supplies as directed; assist in taking inventories.
  • Ability to accept and count money, tickets, or tokens for food and beverages served; record transactions; and maintain accountability of sales.
  • Ability to wash, sanitize, and store dishes and utensils; scrub and sanitize counters and tables; mop floors; and dispose of wastes properly.
  • Ability to operate and clean all kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to keep work area clean and orderly.
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation rules at all times when handling food and using equipment.
  • Ability to adhere to safety regulations/guidelines.
  • Willingness to assist new Food and Nutrition Services employees, student employees, or volunteers in becoming familiar with their assignments.
  • Willingness to comply with all requirements of the local, state, and federal Food and Nutrition Services programs, including attendance at all District food service trainings.
