About The Position

This is a front-facing position at the library. Workers will be expected to greet and interact with library patrons, answer basic questions, and monitor the library space for messes or disruption. Workers will learn the general operations of the library, and help staff and librarians wherever needed. Additional duties may be provided by librarians for special projects throughout the semester.

Requirements

• Must be a current MVCC student with work study funds available
• Punctuality and dependability a must
• Basic computer skills and the ability to assist students with basic questions
• Ability to learn Library Call No. system to help students find library material
• Open and friendly communication with patrons and staff

Nice To Haves

• Previous customer service or library work a plus

Responsibilities

• Greeting and directing patrons
• Monitoring for and cleaning messes
• Keeping the collections tidy and organized
• Opening and closing the lab and study areas as necessary
• Checking and refilling printers, staplers, and other supplies regularly
• Keeping staff and librarians informed about any problems that arise in the library
