About The Position

The Work Comp Editor position at this Orthopaedic care facility is responsible for completing assigned reports and meeting with physicians and management as needed. The role requires a strong understanding of Workers' Compensation and medical terminology, excellent communication and writing skills, and the ability to work independently with a high degree of professional excellence. The position emphasizes attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently. The employee must be available forty hours per week, with flexibility in scheduling, and work no more than five days per week. A working knowledge of computers and the ability to learn office programs are essential.

Requirements

  • Medical writing and editing experience required.
  • Must have experience with Med-Legal Worker's Compensation reporting.
  • Must have experience with reviewing AME/QME reports.
  • Must have thorough understanding of AMC Guides 5th edition and Labor codes 4663 & 4664.
  • Excellent communication, writing and grammar skills.
  • Must be well versed with worker's compensation and medical terminology.
  • Strong organizational skills, detailed-oriented, and ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Must exhibit a high degree of professional excellence characterized by sound independent judgment, initiative and high standard of ethics.
  • Must possess high attention to detail.
  • High school diploma or equivalence.
  • 2 to 3 years' work experience in Workers Compensation cases.
  • Dependable and organized.
  • Receptive to constructive criticism and feedback.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and follow up on assignments.
  • Self-starter, proactive and works well with little supervision.
  • Excellent analytical skills, likes to be accurate and attention to detail.
  • Intermediate or higher skill level in WordPerfect and Word office.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Orthopedics and Pain Management preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review and editing of Med-Legal reports.
  • Review patient history information to ensure it is incorporated correctly into the provider’s report.
  • Contact patients to obtain or clarify information when necessary.
  • Complete assigned reports.
  • Meet with physicians and management as needed.
