About The Position

Staff designated at Dickinson Wright PLLC (“the Firm”) as Word Processor are responsible for operating under established policies and procedures to perform a variety of word processing functions to produce documents for the Firm’s attorneys and staff.

Requirements

  • Possess interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate with a diverse group of clients, attorneys, and staff and provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact;
  • Possess interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate by phone and provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact;
  • Possess the ability to read and write at a level normally acquired through the completion of high school in order to produce legal documents;
  • Possess the ability to type routine forms, reports, correspondence and like from rough draft or transcription at a level of 70 wpm;
  • Possess the ability to handle stressful situations, a diverse and high-volume workload, and provide value in a professional manner;
  • Possess the ability to understand and utilize computer equipment and software (Microsoft Word, Compare-Rite, NetDocuments, Adobe) in order to process documents;
  • Possess the ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and distribute work to ensure completion under prescribed constraints;
  • Possess the ability to proofread typed material for grammatical, typographical or spelling errors;
  • Work occasionally requires a high level of mental effort and strain when performing a high volume of clerical tasks and performing other essential duties;
  • Possess the ability to retrieve and distribute files and written documents;
  • Possess the ability to analyze work flow projects and incoming calls, prepare activity reports as requested.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the work flow of projects to ensure completion within prescribed time requirements and constraints;
  • Typing correspondence and reports from handwritten copy and drafts;
  • Operate standard office equipment such as photocopiers, fax machines, personal computer, and dictation equipment;
  • Create, revise and print documents utilizing computer system software, macros, forms file, and/or OCR;
  • Utilize legal formats and terminology when setting up documents;
  • Work one-on-one with attorneys as needed;
  • Convert and format documents from other computers, downloads, when needed;
  • Maintain logs for daily projects, provide daily reports, when requested;
  • Provide assistance to secretaries and attorneys regarding Microsoft Word, templates.
