About The Position
Our Woodlands Accountant is crucial to Tolko Woodlands operations, ensuring the financial procedures and systems are accurate and efficient. With a focus on financial reporting and analysis, this role is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about finance and accounting. We’re looking for a Woodlands Accountant to join our Woodlands Finance Team in Lumby, British Columbia. The Southern Interior Woodlands Team manages Tolko's tenure and fibre supply in the Southern Interior of British Columbia. We are dedicated to sustaining these areas to the benefit of all who live and work there.
Requirements
- Minimum of two years related experience.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, time management, attention to detail, and communication skills.
- Proactive approach to problem-solving with strong analytical and decision-making capability.
- Proficiency in forward planning and project management.
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
Nice To Haves
- University degree or diploma in accounting, or equivalent is an asset.
- CPA designation is preferred but not required.
- General knowledge of the forest industry is an asset.
Responsibilities
- Assist in month-end financial reporting, including variance reports and account analysis.
- Prepare and update financial statement formats, reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Work closely with Accounts Payable to review and post invoices and expense reports, ensuring internal controls are follows.
- Assist Operations in the compilation and accounting of fixed assets and inventories.
- Assist in the preparation of the year-end audit file, annual budget, and forecasts.
- Operate in a safe manner in accordance with work safe rules, regulations, and policies.
