About The Position

Acts as the primary client advocate, keeps abreast of progress, and coordinates all services as delivered to the mothers and family internally and through external referral.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Addiction counseling, Criminal Justice, Social Work or Psychology.
  • Two (2) years of experience in providing direct counseling services to persons with alcohol and/or drug problems is preferred.
  • A minimum of four years of related experience in office management and staff supervision.
  • Bilingual is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Adherence to the highest standard of ethical conduct, especially to standards governing confidentiality.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Must be culturally/linguistically sensitive to populations served.
  • Requires the ability to collect and analyze complex numerical and written data and verbal information to reach logical conclusions.
  • It requires the ability to work and cooperate with co-workers, managers, the public and employees at all levels to exchange ideas, information, instructions, and opinions.
  • Requires mobility and physical activity: Having an adequate range of body motion and mobility to work in an office, residential, or outdoor environment including standing and walking (even and uneven surfaces), sitting for extended periods of time, bending, twisting, reaching, balancing, occasional lifting and carrying of up to 50 pounds.
  • Use of computer and telephone systems is required which includes coordination of eye and hand, and fine manipulation by the hands (typing, writing, and working with files).
  • Requires the ability to defend oneself and clients in physically abusive situations using approved physical de-escalation techniques.
  • Requires talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Talking is required to impart oral information to employees, clients, patients, and the public, and in those activities in which the employee is required to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Requires hearing: Hearing is required to receive and communicate detailed information through oral communication.
  • Requires seeing: Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and at distance. This factor is required to complete paperwork for many of the employee’s essential job functions and to observe client behavior and activities in and out of the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Compiles Coordinated Assessment reports and SOAR reporting with coordinators monthly.
  • Functions as the single point of contact for Care Coordination with managing entity.
  • Completes reports as required.
  • In coordination with Project Director oversees the day-to-day performance of employees as needed.
  • Managing employee schedules as needed.
  • Often responsible for reporting team and individual performance to human resources and senior management.
  • Assures that all staff documentation of client care meets agency and funding source. standards
  • Complete educational/vocational proficiency skills profile during orientation phase of treatment and report significant findings to the counseling staff.
  • Complete education/vocational/ESL assessment prior to and in preparation of consumer’s advancement to the community re-entry phase of treatment.
  • Provides individual and group counseling.
  • Acts as a liaison to other department coordinators and administrators at the agency.
  • Communicates regularly with mental health supervisors to ensure that services are integrated, to resolve issues, and to act as a proponent for employment.
  • Provides linkage to outside agencies providing ancillary services (e.g. clothing, school, medical, and dental allowances; and Florida State Employment Services for testing, etc.
