About The Position

The Women’s Strength Training & Group Fitness Instructor will prepare and lead fun, safe, and effective group fitness classes based on the class description, offering modifications for less experienced and more experienced individuals as needed. The instructor will represent SBTS in a godly manner and possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to create and conduct safe exercises for a wide variety of fitness levels.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience coaching weight training and group fitness.
  • Ability to work effectively with a range of populations, from beginners to athletes.

Nice To Haves

  • NSCA CSCS, NSCA-CPT, ACSM, NASM, or ACE certification is ideal but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and demonstrate the maturity required to lead and serve as a role model for class participants.
  • Uphold a commitment to personal fitness, a healthy diet, and overall well-being.
  • Possess sufficient knowledge of basic weight training and programming.
  • Possess sufficient knowledge in some type of group fitness class (Mat Pilates, Bootcamp, HIIT, etc.).
  • Ensure cleanliness and proper organization of gym spaces and equipment after each class.
  • Enforce Health and Recreation Center policies and procedures when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Effectively research, design, and lead group fitness sessions utilizing relevant work experience and training to ensure engaging and effective sessions.
  • Structure each session within the allotted time frame while maintaining a smooth and organized flow.
  • Prioritize the safety and long-term health of every participant by offering modifications when necessary.
  • Foster meaningful and encouraging relationships with class members to build a supportive fitness community.
  • Serve as an example of both physical health and moral character, inspiring participants through actions and words.
  • Continue developing knowledge, skills, and expertise relevant to fitness training and coaching.
  • Incorporate prayer and/or scripture at the beginning or end of each class to encourage spiritual growth.
  • Arrive at least 10–15 minutes before class to welcome participants, set up equipment, and begin on time.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to substitute for fellow instructors when needed.
  • Be available to teach classes during early mornings, midday, and evenings.
  • Train Boyce athletes (male and female) for pre-season and in-season conditioning (August–December).
