About The Position

This position is for a FLOAT Advanced Practice Provider (NP, PA, or CNM) within the Regional Women’s Services and Pediatrics (RWSP) healthcare program. The role primarily covers clinics in Southeast Houston, TX, including Pasadena, Pearland, and Texas City, and requires cross-coverage to other clinics within the region. The provider will deliver competent, age-specific health care to women, managing the medical aspects of care including assessment, diagnosis, intervention, evaluation, rehabilitation, care, counsel, and health teachings. The role also involves promoting health and preventing illness, establishing therapeutic relationships, and providing health education and counseling. The provider is responsible for the healthcare provided and must utilize age-specific developmental principles.

Requirements

  • Master’s in Nursing, FNP, WHNP or Master’s in Physician Assistant studies
  • Licensed in the State of Texas with Board Certification
  • Completion of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission for Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) (for PA applicants)
  • No experience required (for PA applicants)
  • Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) (for PA applicants)
  • Licensed Physician Assistant by the Texas Physician Assistant Board/Texas Medical Board (TPAB/TMB) (for PA applicants)
  • Completion of a graduate level (or higher) nurse practitioner program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) (for NP applicants)
  • No experience required (for NP applicants)
  • Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) (for NP applicants)
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) by the Texas Board of Nursing (TBON) (for NP applicants)
  • Licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in a nurse practitioner clinical area of specialization by the Texas Board of Nursing (TBON) (for NP applicants)

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years clinical/nursing experience in Women’s Care, Obstetrics, Antepartum, Postpartum care, Dysplasia and/or Pediatrics in either inpatient or ambulatory setting.
  • 1-2 years ambulatory advanced practice provider experience in the specialty of the position you are applying.
  • Spanish language fluency

Responsibilities

  • Provide competent, age specific health care to women in the Regional Women’s Services and Pediatrics (RWSP) healthcare program.
  • Perform responsible clinical care in collaboration with the unit physician and under approved protocols.
  • Manage the medical aspects of care in the observation, assessment, diagnosis, intervention, evaluation, rehabilitation, care and counsel, and health teachings of persons who are ill, injured or infirmed or experiencing changes in normal health processes.
  • Promote and maintain health and prevent illness in a clinical setting.
  • Provide primary health care to the patient and family throughout the course of care.
  • Use the processes of assessment, diagnosis, management, and evaluation to provide care that integrates the psychosocial and physical needs of the patient and family.
  • Establish a therapeutic relationship with the client and family.
  • Plan, develop, coordinate, and provide appropriate health education and counseling in response to patient needs.
  • Contribute to the advancement of the profession, seek to ensure high quality care within the RWSP, and demonstrate leadership skills in achieving improved outcomes for all clients and their families.
  • Responsible for the health care provided and will utilize age specific developmental principles when providing care.
