About The Position

Under the direction of the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Administrative Services Coordinator, this role provides direction and supervision to administrative support staff. The position collaborates with all programs and WIC leadership to ensure effectiveness and efficiency in service provision within a culturally competent and customer-friendly environment. Responsibilities include supervising and instructing WIC team members, ensuring client information is entered into the SC-WIC system per program guidelines, conducting and maintaining audits, training records, and Employee Performance Management Systems (EPMS) for individual staff. The role involves conducting observations on administrative staff, providing and documenting feedback and appraisals, and delivering culturally competent customer service to public health clients in accordance with WIC program and agency policies. Key tasks include answering telephones, scheduling appointments, processing information, completing certifications, and entering all client information into the SC-WIC system. The position also ensures staff compliance with program and agency guidelines for the issuance of e-WIC cards and Farmer's Market benefits, adheres to customer service and cultural competency guidelines, and follows WIC Program customer complaint procedures. The role requires attending relevant program and agency training and meetings, ensuring necessary materials and resources are available for administrative staff, preparing and submitting required reports, and completing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma and work experience that is directly related to the area of employment.
  • A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the related work experience.
  • Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
  • A bachelor's degree in a related field and two years responsible administrative support supervisory experience; or associate degree in related field and three years experience, or HS/GED and four years of responsible administrative experience.
  • Agency experience and proven ability may be substituted for supervisory experience.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications, subject to approval by the SCDPH Chief Human Resources Officer, or their delegate.

Responsibilities

  • Completes other duties as assigned related to the position.
