Emory Healthcare is seeking a RN Clinician with a strong background in wound, ostomy, and continence (W.O.C) care. This role supports a strong, unified WOC team that partners collaboratively with departments to ensure high-quality, patient-centered outcomes. The RN Clinician will direct agency-wide initiatives for pressure ulcer prevention, wound care and ostomy care, including supporting pressure ulcer prevalence data collection, evidence-based policies, procedures, and protocols, and advising on appropriate support surfaces, products, and staff decision-making algorithms. The role involves developing and conducting educational programs and clinical instruction for Emory Healthcare staff and students. The RN Clinician will provide advanced clinical guidance to physicians and nursing staff regarding the management of complex wounds, fistulas, moisture management, and pressure ulcers, and determine appropriate nursing interventions and recommend necessary equipment, materials, and resources. Responsibilities include performing pre-operative stoma site marking and ostomy education, and developing and conducting post-operative ostomy education and care plans. This is a clinical expert role, integrating knowledge to respond to patient/family needs, leading efforts to strengthen organizational systems, and demonstrating creative problem-solving and collaboration. The nurse will model expert communication, advance evidence-based practices, participate in unit governance, lead unit projects, and mentor other nurses. The role requires over two years of nursing experience, a BSN (or completion of RN-MSN), MSN, DNP program, and specialty certification. The nurse will demonstrate expertise in scholarly activities, role model dependable and effective care, demonstrate expert assessment skills, and possess foresight regarding the impact of nursing care on patient outcomes. They will be recognized as an expert clinician and leader, assist less experienced nurses, monitor documentation standards, provide feedback, and implement changes to the documentation process. The role involves establishing, promoting, and evaluating standardized plans of care using evidence-based research, staying informed of clinical trends, and collaborating to develop standardized teaching materials. The nurse will demonstrate exemplary practice using the AACN Synergy Model for Patient Care, role model time management, ensure compliance with policies, identify and initiate educational programs, and disseminate evidence-based practice information. They will question clinical practice related to research, role model and educate others using the Synergy model, and role model delegation skills. The nurse will assume a leadership and resource role with the interdisciplinary team, function as Charge Nurse when assigned, orient staff or students, evaluate resource use and cost containment, and lead team behavior. They will exhibit a desire to understand others' points of view, demonstrate effective communication skills, take a leadership role in building an environment of open communication, and take appropriate action to correct unacceptable practice. The role involves developing staff competencies, actively monitoring and developing staff competency, using self in the therapeutic relationship, respecting others' values, suspending judgment, planning constructive interventions based on patient values, eliciting and integrating cultural beliefs, and utilizing patient satisfaction feedback. The nurse will assist colleagues in resolving issues, identify and address needs of long-term patients, monitor issues and their resolution, and respect and maintain confidential information.
