The Fire & Gas (F&G) Instrumentation Technician will play a key role in the installation, inspection, testing, maintenance and calibration of F&G detection/alarm and control systems. Essential Job Responsibilities: Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, inspection, testing, and repair of Fire & Gas (F&G) detection and alarm systems, including functional testing and verification of interfaces with process control and shutdown systems, in compliance with Hilcorp standards and applicable NFPA requirements. Document inspection, testing, repair, and failure data within the EAM database system. Document and track the status of open and closed Fire & Gas Clearinghouse observations. Prepare, review, and revise Fire & Gas maintenance and repair procedures to ensure technical accuracy, compliance with applicable codes and standards, and alignment with system design intent. Support commissioning and turnover activities for new or modified Fire & Gas systems, including punch-list development and resolution. Identify recurring Fire & Gas system issues or failure trends and recommend corrective actions or design improvements to enhance system reliability and performance. Support incident investigations, near-miss reviews, and abnormal event analysis involving Fire & Gas detection or suppression systems, including providing technical input and documentation. Read and interpret Fire & Gas (F&G) detection system drawings and schematics to support effective troubleshooting and fault isolation in the field. Review and interpret applicable codes, standards, and manufacturer technical manuals to diagnose system issues, verify acceptable conditions, and determine appropriate corrective actions. Apply strong working knowledge of current and historical building codes (IBC/UBC) and NFPA codes in the execution of assigned duties.
