About The Position

This role involves preparing Excel spreadsheets to demonstrate the application of key corporate tax concepts, assisting with tax consulting services for a range of clients including major multinational clients, and working closely with tax professionals in other offices to provide subject matter support in accounting methods and credits. The position also requires partnering with local office teams on complex tax issues, collaborating with other practice groups, and conducting tax research to support and substantiate tax advice. Responsibilities include preparing and reviewing deliverables such as memorandums, opinions, private letter ruling requests, training materials, and thought leadership, as well as developing specialization in U.S. taxation, specifically Credits and Incentives (Energy Credits and R&D) and Accounting Methods. There is also a focus on enhancing quality and integrating AI-enabled capabilities into workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • CPA or JD required
  • Minimum five years of recent tax experience in an accounting firm, law firm, or private industry
  • Demonstrated success in a leadership role
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel spreadsheet preparation and interpretation
  • Ability to manage and develop staff in a highly interactive team environment
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel as needed (10% travel expected)

  • Preferred experience with tax accounting methods, capital cost recovery or energy credits

Responsibilities

  • Preparing Excel spreadsheets to demonstrate the application of key corporate tax concepts
  • Assist with providing tax consulting services to a full range of clients, including major multinational clients on a national level
  • Work closely with tax professionals in other offices of Grant Thornton to provide subject matter support in the area of accounting methods and credits
  • Partner with local office teams on delivery of complex tax issues for their clients
  • Collaborate with other practice groups in WNTO and work with Grant Thornton International member firms
  • Conduct tax research necessary to support and substantiate tax advice; evaluate the technical merits of tax positions
  • Assist with the preparation and review of various deliverables, including memorandums, opinions, private letter ruling requests, training materials, and thought leadership
  • Help with the development of internal and external presentations
  • Develop specialization in an area of U.S. taxation, specifically Credits and Incentives (Energy Credits and R&D), and Accounting Methods
  • Supporting efforts to enhance quality and integrate AI-enabled capabilities into our workflows
