About The Position

The Assistant Girls Soccer Coach at WJHS for the 2026-2027 school year will assist the head coach in various secondary school athletic programs. This role involves promoting sports in the school and community, planning and supervising practices, and teaching individual fundamental skills, team plan, team strategy, and rules and regulations of the game. The assistant coach is also responsible for teaching good sportsmanship and self-control, checking participant eligibility (including insurance coverage and parent consent), and providing a proper role model, emotional support, patience, a friendly attitude, and general guidance to students. Additionally, the position requires conducting learning experiences with small groups of student athletes under the direction of the coaches and recommending the purchase of appropriate equipment, supplies, and uniforms for the health, safety, and welfare of student athletes.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of fundamentals of various sports
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • Knowledge of interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy
  • Ability to assist coaches on one or more sports
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions
  • Ability to read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Any combination equivalent to: high school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate as required by Kentucky law and 64 semester hours college credit
  • Proof of Adult CPR/First Aid/ AED Certification
  • NFHS Coaching Principles Certification
  • KRS 160.445– Heat Related Emergency Training
  • Official transcripts and diplomas
  • Coaches Code of Ethics Form
  • Current W4 Form
  • Current Medical Exam with TB test
  • Criminal records check
  • Copy of driver’s license and Social Security Card, verifying minimum age of 21 years old

Responsibilities

  • Assist in promoting sports in the school and community
