Wireperson
About The Position
As a Wireperson, you will perform various wiring tasks within the Electrical Assembly department. This role involves assembling, installing, and maintaining electrical systems and components. You will work with various types of wiring, cables, and connectors to ensure the proper functioning of electrical equipment and systems. The position requires reading and interpreting electrical schematics and blueprints, and often working closely with electricians and other technicians to complete projects. Adherence to safety regulations and industry standards is crucial to ensure the integrity and reliability of electrical systems.
Requirements
- Minimum education level of a High School Diploma or General Education Equivalent Diploma is preferred.
- Ability to read and understand point-to-point wiring diagrams
- Ability to read and use a tape measure
- Must have a basic command of the English language, both written and verbal.
- Safely use variety of hand/power tools.
- Lift up to 50lbs using proper lifting techniques.
Nice To Haves
- Basic computer knowledge considered and asset.
- Knowledge of calibration
- Read and understand spec sheet and master copy drawing.
Responsibilities
- Use hand tools (e.g. crimpers, strippers, torquing tools, calibrating tools, etc.) to perform tasks.
- Run and bundle wires according to Powell wiring standards.
- Layout, install, drill and tap devices onto doors and back pans.
- Install name plates and space heaters.
- Install and terminate CTs.
- Operate continuity buzzers.
- Terminate and run wire for MCC, SWGR, and harnesses according to wire diagram.
- Promote a safety culture as well as attend all safety meetings.
- Ensure that work areas remain clean and well organized.
- Perform in process inspections
