About The Position
The Inside Wireman/Installer is responsible for installing low voltage cabling for various systems including video, voice, data, and fire alarm. This work often takes place in buildings that are under construction and may lack amenities like air conditioning or permanent lighting, or in existing buildings and offices, sometimes requiring work outdoors in various weather conditions. The role involves routing backbone and horizontal voice and data cables, installing and terminating wires and cables (copper and fiber-optic), and testing Local Area Network (LAN) cabling systems. Installers also work with security and access control systems, communications and sound distribution systems, and fire life safety systems. They are responsible for ensuring all installations are done correctly, including testing and troubleshooting, and must seal penetrations through rated areas using approved fire stopping methods. Accurate timesheet completion and submission are also required.
Requirements
- Installing network of low voltage cabling for video, voice, data, Fire Alarm or other low voltage signaling.
- Installing voice, data, video and Fire Devices at the time of trim in their designated locations.
- Installing punch down blocks and cross connects in telephone rooms.
- Testing all installations to ensure they were done properly.
- Installing Underground voice, data, video and Fire Devices Feeders to Facilities.
- Installing Pathways, Hangers and Spaces for Installation of Low Voltage Wiring.
- Installing, Terminating and Testing Wires and Cables, both Copper and Fiber-Optic.
- Installing, Testing, Certifying and Troubleshooting Local Area Network (LAN) Cabling Systems.
- Laying Out, Installing and Verifying Operation of Security and Access Control Systems.
- Installing Communications and Sound Distribution Systems.
- Providing Testing, Analysis and Repair of Video, Voice and Data Systems; including Electronic Devices.
- Prefabricating Systems, such as Telecommunications Racks, for Field Installation.
- Working on other Sub-systems such as Communications, Entertainment, Environmental, Fire Life Safety and Access Control.
- Sealing all penetrations through rated areas with approved Fire Stopping Methods.
- Filling out their own timesheet correctly and getting it into the payroll department by the required time and day.
