Wireman Electrician (Austin)
About The Position
Base is seeking a field-focused Journeyman Electrician to support its Austin, Texas battery fleet. The role is primarily hands-on and on-site, involving electrical and battery system work, troubleshooting, and repairs. The electrician will also guide crews, help ensure installation quality and code compliance, and represent Base during inspections. The position includes participation in a scheduled on-call rotation for urgent night and weekend electrical issues. Base is a startup, so responsibilities may expand or change with business needs. The company works in person and describes the role as not a 9-to-5.
Requirements
- Valid Residential Wireman or Journeyman Electrician license.
- At least 4 years of relevant electrical work, specifically with battery backups, EV chargers, or whole-home generators.
- A fix-it-right-the-first-time approach and ability to explain technical concepts to crews and inspectors.
- Ability to clearly explain work and corrections to installers, inspectors, and homeowners.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair complex electrical and battery system failures in the field.
- Perform rework to ensure installations pass inspection and meet internal quality benchmarks.
- Meet inspectors and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), walk installations with them, and resolve issues in real time.
- Onboard and provide hands-on training to new installation crews.
- Maintain expertise in Base hardware, NEC codes, and general electrical principles.
- Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation to address urgent night and weekend electrical issues.
