About The Position

The Wireless Network Engineer role involves conceptualizing, designing, and implementing advanced wireless network technologies for defense applications. The engineer will translate customer needs into actionable architectures and prototype implementations, conduct assessments, perform network modeling and simulation, and optimize performance. This role supports the evolution of networking technologies within the Department of War, from initial concepts to fully integrated operational systems. Responsibilities include refining technical roadmaps, delivering solution briefs, collaborating with stakeholders, representing capabilities at demonstrations, and mentoring emerging engineers.

Requirements

  • Experience designing, integrating, and developing advanced wireless network capabilities using flexible software architectures and commercial off the shelf hardware.
  • Knowledge of how applications, transports, and mission services interact across contested and bandwidth-limited environments.
  • Knowledge of military radio waveforms, transport, communications planning systems, and mission critical networking systems including interoperability across heterogeneous transports, routing frameworks, tactical-edge networks, and government mission systems supporting the Department of War.
  • Ability to work in Agile development environments with continuous integration and DevSecOps practices that enable rapid prototyping, iterative refinement, and accelerated delivery of fieldable wireless networking capabilities.
  • Ability to establish trust, communicate effectively, and maintain strong relationships with clients, mission operators, network stakeholders, and technical partners to ensure alignment between operational networking needs and technical designs or capability roadmaps.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.
  • Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing modular, service-based wireless and RF applications using microservices, well-defined API specifications, and distributed network-processing frameworks that support scalable, resilient wireless and spectrum-aware operations.
  • Experience with orchestration and containerized deployments, such as Docker, Kubernetes, or serverless platforms, to rapidly field wireless prototypes, automate scaling of network functions, and ensure reliable delivery of RF and mission-network services in contested or degraded environments.
  • Experience applying cloud technologies and modern data-engineering techniques to host, process, and fuse high-volume wireless, RF, and electromagnetic-sensing data to support real-time analytics, adaptive routing, and prototype network capability development.
  • Knowledge of advanced analytics, artificial-intelligence and machine-learning workflows, and disciplined MLOps pipelines that enable intelligent spectrum decision making, wireless performance prediction, and dynamic adaptation to RF interference or jamming.
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills for explaining wireless architectures, RF networking concepts, and EW/EMSO-relevant design decisions, and for delivering capability demonstrations to mission and technical stakeholders.
  • TS/SCI clearance.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or a STEM field.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee research, design, planning, integration, and evaluation of advanced wireless and high-speed transport technologies.
  • Translate customer needs and strategic objectives into actionable architectures and prototype implementations of new and novel solutions.
  • Conduct in-depth assessments of customer requirements.
  • Perform network modeling and simulation activities.
  • Evaluate and optimize performance.
  • Provide technical consulting to define solution requirements to optimize for mission application needs.
  • Refine technical roadmaps.
  • Deliver solution briefs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Represent innovative wireless capabilities at demonstrations and technical events.
  • Mentor emerging engineers.
