About The Position

Responsible for the design, development, testing, and production optimization of wire springs and related wire form products. This role involves spring process development following the APQP process using calculation software and CAD software, including modeling and technical drawings for customer and production purposes. The engineer will prepare cost calculations, perform calculations to ensure springs meet specified requirements, and manage projects and new parts from initial inquiry through to PPAP approval and beyond. The role also includes supporting quality complaint processes, identifying cost-saving potentials, and assisting customers with problem-solving. A strong understanding of mechanics, materials science, and spring manufacturing processes is essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree: Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or comparable field
  • Previous experience in a product engineering role, specifically in wire form/spring manufacturing
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing or Six Sigma
  • Basic Computer proficiency (MS Office, Outlook, Teams, Co-Pilot) as well as CAD, SolidWorks, AutoCAD
  • SAP
  • Experience in bending technology or other metal forming processes
  • Problem solving skills, root cause analysis
  • Strong analytical and mathematical abilities for testing and data analysis
  • Strong understanding of mechanics, materials science, and spring manufacturing processes
  • Independence, dedication, willingness to collaborate, and ability to work in a team

Responsibilities

  • Spring process development following the APQP process using calculation software and CAD software, including modeling and technical drawings for customer and production purposes
  • Prepare cost calculation to determine part pricing for customer quotations
  • Perform calculations to ensure springs meet specified force, stress, and Life cycle requirements
  • Managing projects and new parts from the customer’s initial inquiry through to PPAP approval and supporting these through the whole product life, through being responsible for change processes (Change Management)
  • Conveying technical information to customers, quality, logistics, product marketing and production staff
  • Resolve complex technical challenges during product design and manufacturing
  • Be part of the quality complaint process and support with identifying and executing corrective actions
  • Identify cost saving potential in the production process and support to execute those
  • Assist customers with problem-solving
  • Support international subsidiaries
  • Achieve quality rates and reduction of production scrap
  • Process customer inquiries and prepare cost estimates
