About The Position

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Mobility & Surveillance (M&S) Division is seeking multiple Associate Wire Installation Engineers to support the P-8 program and other M&S products such as Tanker and USAF E7. This role reports to the P-8 Wiring Integrated Product Team (IPT) and will be 100% onsite in Tukwila, WA. The P-8 is a high-visibility, advanced commercial derivative military aircraft program supporting the United States Navy and international customers. As an Associate Wire Installation Engineer, you will work in a dynamic team environment integrating across the full production value stream from Engineering to Shop Floor to execute both post-production modifications and standard production wiring for the P-8 aircraft. Wiring serves as the integration point between the physical aircraft structure and mission systems capability, providing exposure to nearly every design IPT and a broad understanding of the aircraft and its systems. Safety and quality are the number one priority.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry.
  • 2 or more years of related work experience.
  • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
  • An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Level 3: 5 or more years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Model-Based Definition tools such as CATIA V5, SolidWorks, Siemens NX, ENOVIA, and PDM.
  • 2 or more years of experience working in cross-functional teams to plan, execute, and release electrical system installation and wire harness engineering.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and effective verbal and written communication.
  • Experience in electrical wiring design, wiring installation design, equipment installation design, systems and wiring architecture, FAA/EWIS/military certification, electrical fabrication, and electrical production line support.
  • Familiarity with electrical system design principles, wire separation requirements, EME considerations, and relevant regulations.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to program tools and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain cable/wire harness detail and assembly designs.
  • Analyze results and support design reviews.
  • Develop and maintain electrical product detail, assembly, and installation designs (e.g., equipment racks, power panels, cabinets, cable routing and geometry, antennas).
  • Provide engineering design disposition on discrepancies (e.g., troubleshooting, rejection tags, production action requests, shop revision requests).
  • Follow documented processes, specifications, and procedures supporting the design and manufacture of electrical commodities.
  • Support the development of basic and complex statements of work, maintain schedule awareness, and contribute to metric measures.
  • Assist in the technical review of supplier capabilities to facilitate source selection.
  • Analyze functional and physical input to ensure development of complete integrated designs.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Travel as needed to support various activities (less than 10%).
