About The Position

The wire harness technician manufactures and tests complex electrical wiring systems for the aviation industry. Daily tasks involve reading schematics, measuring and cutting wires, stripping, crimping, soldering, and bundling cables according to engineering drawings and quality standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 5 Years of wire harness experience in aviation, aerospace environment
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issues security clearance is required. U.S. Citizenship is required, as only U.S. Citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Fasten components together according to blueprints and technical plans in order to create subassemblies or finished products.
  • Bind cables or wire together using cable ties, conduit, cable lacing, sleeves, spot ties, cable clamps, or straps.
  • Install specialized pins, connectors, and terminals using crimping tools and soldering irons.
  • Fabricate, install and rework flight harnesses, sensors, prewired assemblies in either development and production environments
  • Uses tools to manipulate wire which will be used for electrical purposes, such as wire strippers, crimpers, soldering irons, torque wrenches, and heat guns.
  • Perform continuity tests, verify functionality, and inspect finished harnesses for adherence to strict industry guidelines
  • Troubleshoot, determine issues, and repair non-conforming hardware
