About The Position

The Wire Harness Production Lead provides hands-on leadership and daily work direction to employees involved in wire harness manufacturing. This position works closely with Management to ensure production priorities are understood, employees have the resources needed to complete assigned work, and products are built safely, efficiently, and according to RVI quality and customer requirements. The Lead serves as the primary point of contact on the production floor for workflow, training, quality, and production issues.

  • Has basic knowledge of ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, Word, and other production-related software.
  • Understands basic manufacturing math including measurements, fractions, decimals, percentages, rates, and ratios.
  • Works effectively with employees and other departments and treats others with professionalism and respect.
  • Is willing to remain hands-on and assist with production when needed.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform production-floor activities including standing, bending, reaching, and walking for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED and two years of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Wire harness manufacturing and previous leadership experience are preferred.
  • Any combination of education and experience that provides the required skills and knowledge for successful performance.

Responsibilities

  • Review daily production priorities with Management and communicate work direction to employees.
  • Assign and adjust work throughout the day to support production schedules and customer priorities.
  • Monitor workflow through wire preparation, terminating, assembly, splicing, looming, and testing operations.
  • Identify production constraints, material shortages, equipment issues, and quality concerns and communicate them to the appropriate department.
  • Ensure employees accurately record labor, quantities, and production activity in RVI's ERP system.
  • Ensure employees follow drawings, work instructions, quality procedures, safety requirements, and established manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure products are properly built, inspected, and tested to meet customer requirements.
  • Provide hands-on training, coaching, and immediate feedback to production employees.
  • Identify additional training or performance needs and communicate them to Management.
  • Coordinate with Quality, Purchasing, Planning, Engineering, Sales/Project Management, and Management when issues affect production.
  • Move personnel between production areas when necessary to maintain workflow and support changing priorities.
  • Assist with production work as needed to support schedules, employee absences, or production constraints.
  • Encourage employee accountability, teamwork, cross-training, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized production environment.
  • Communicate employee attendance, performance, conduct, safety, or workplace concerns to Management in a timely manner.
