About The Position

Viasat is looking for Wire Harness Designers to join our outstanding team! In this multifaceted role, you will be responsible for the design of cables and harnesses, including all related content for various products. Your strong communication and organization skills combined with your knowledge in electrical, mechanical, and EMI design will serve you well as you generate wire lists, assembly drawings, specify connector and wire types, and work with systems, electrical, test and operations engineering teams to ensure a quality and manufacturable product.

Requirements

5+ years of related experience in aviation and/or space applications
Associate of Science Degree in technology or proven work experience
Strong practical experience with SolidWorks, or other CAD based wire harness design tools.
Strong oral and written skills
Solid understanding and use of industry standards (IPC/WHMA-A-620)
Solid understanding of electrical schematics
Experience in the creation of fabrication drawings and related BOM’s as well as experience with crafting processes and standardization documentation.
Strong understanding and working knowledge of with Agile or other PLM platforms.
US citizenship required

Nice To Haves

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering discipline
Solid understanding of cable and harness fabrication
3D routing experience
Experience with routing in Creo or NX
Experience with Siemens Capital
Generate cable and harness internal specifications
Ability to mentor and guide junior designers

Responsibilities

Generate sophisticated cable and harness design packages for aviation and space applications
Participate in group discussions
Assist programs in identifying critical components and design features and challenges
