About The Position

The Wire Drawing Operator's purpose is to size down wire/rod per customer specification, so the customer will be able to make precision products. This role involves operating machinery, performing maintenance, and ensuring quality control in a manufacturing environment.

Requirements

Able to read, write and speak English.
Basic computer skills.
Able to work with machine inspection equipment.
Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Math and deductive reasoning skills.

Nice To Haves

Overhead crane experience in an industrial setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

Read, understand, and follow all safety procedures, including Coil Safety at O&K American.
Read, understand, and follow all production procedures for Wire Drawing (W/D) and Power outage instructions.
Understand all aspects of machine operation and safety.
Perform general maintenance and troubleshoot machines and 6S.
Perform pointing of rod.
Weigh coils.
Set and adjust cast for coils.
Select dies and print tags/labels.
Use overhead cranes to offload and load coils.
Calibrate and properly operate department inspection tools: micrometers and loupe light.
Perform visual inspection of coils.
Understand and enter data into AS400 production screen.
Identify rod nonconformances.
Perform Coil ID tag visual checks.
Scan tags and enter random emboss tag numbers into the computer.
Place labels and cut samples.
Manage Drawing Soap – changing and checking.
Inspect for surface nonconformances.
Follow nonconformance instructions.
Use correct wire carriers.
Band coils.
Follow basic safety procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
