About The Position

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking a Wire Design Engineer to support the E-7A and P-8 programs. In this role, you will develop and maintain detailed cable and wire harness designs, including assembly layouts for equipment racks, power panels, cable routing, and antennas. You will analyze design results, conduct reviews, and resolve discrepancies to ensure quality and schedule compliance. This position requires strong ownership and collaboration with systems engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations teams to deliver integrated designs on aggressive timelines. You will coordinate with suppliers, lead technical reviews, and remove production roadblocks through clear communication and follow-through. This position will be 100% onsite in Tukwila, WA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
  • Level 2: 2 or more years of related experience.
  • Level 3: 5 or more years of related experience.
  • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.

  • Understanding of wire separation requirements and other EME considerations

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed cable/wire harness and assembly designs.
  • Design and layout electrical products including equipment racks, power panels, cable routing, geometry, and antennas.
  • Lead and participate in design reviews, analyzing results to ensure integrated and complete designs.
  • Provide engineering disposition on discrepancies such as rejection tags, production action requests, and shop revision requests.
  • Document processes, specifications, and procedures supporting electrical commodity design and manufacturing.
  • Develop complex statements of work, metrics, schedules, and budgets.
  • Perform technical reviews of supplier capabilities to support source selection and supplier coordination.
  • Analyze functional and physical inputs to ensure complete integrated design development.
  • Support supplier coordination and technical reviews to remove roadblocks and maintain production schedules.
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting, testing, and shipside support as a member of the Electrical Corrective Action Team (ECAT).
  • Travel domestically and internationally (up to 28 days per trip) to supplier and shipside locations to support operations and collaboration.
  • Contribute to process improvements and innovation initiatives, demonstrating curiosity and commitment to continuous improvement.
