About The Position

This role is responsible for performing sanding and wiping duties on the finishing line. The individual will ensure products are prepared correctly for the finishing process by carefully sanding with the grain of the wood and wiping to remove dust and debris, checking for any marks. The position requires adherence to production and quality standards, safety rules, and environmental policies. Teamwork and communication are essential, as is the ability to be cross-trained in adjacent roles within the process flow.

Requirements

Ability to read and understand move tickets.
Ability to sand and wipe all finishes.
Must have the ability to identify various finishes and wood species.
Must have excellent attention to detail.
Must have good team work/communication skills.

Responsibilities

Perform sanding duties on the line using a sanding block or sanding sponge, ensuring to sand with the grain of the wood.
Perform wiping duties on the line using a wiping rag, ensuring to wipe with the grain of the wood and checking for rag marks or drag marks.
Communicate with various departments and personnel.
Maintain production and quality standards.
Follow all safety rules, JSA and work instructions.
Perform all duties in a safe manner.
Actively participate with the natural work team.
Fix unsafe conditions if possible and report conditions to supervisor.
Follow all environmental policies.
Be cross-trained in the job prior to and after the current position in the process flow.
Performs other duties as assigned by management.
May rotate to other departments and duties as needed.
