About The Position

Provides general assistance to various maintenance crews during the winter months. Responds to and interacts with residents, employees and/or others within and outside the organization in a courteous, professional and effective manner. Participates in snow removal operations both inside and outside of normal shift hours.

Requirements

Valid Driver's License Required
Basic English Language/Communication Skills: Ability to read, comprehend, listen to and follow basic verbal or written instructions and provide appropriate feedback. Ability to read, comprehend and/or create routine correspondence and memos using proper spelling, grammar, punctuation and sentence structure. Ability to effectively convey information one-on-one or to small groups of employees or customers.
Ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs on a frequent basis.
Ability to lift or move 50 – 100 lbs on an occasional basis.
Ability to operate equipment, such as a hand operated salt spreader, snow shovel, hand saw, pruners, pole saw, etc.
Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a Village vehicle to pick up and return auto parts to various locations in the Northwest suburbs.
Must be familiar with the area.
Minimum age required is 18.

Responsibilities

Participates in snow removal operations at Village maintained sites, streets, and cul-de-sacs.
Assists crews with snow/ice control related activities, as assigned.
Assists Traffic Operations crews with related activities, including sign fabrication, sign posting, pothole patching, street repairs and barricade maintenance.
Performs vehicle and equipment maintenance, including washing, waxing, vacuuming, cleaning and lubricating.
Performs miscellaneous tasks and assignments, including floor sweeping, window cleaning and site maintenance activities.
Performs miscellaneous tasks and assignments, including painting.
Operates and properly maintains all tools and equipment needed to perform the essential job functions and responsibilities listed above while adhering to all safety rules and practices.
Performs other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned.
