Requirements

DZ license or higher.
Commitment to working evenings and weekends to respond to winter storms.
Experience in labor-intensive jobs such as construction, road maintenance, property maintenance, or a related field.
Comfortable operating equipment such as pickup trucks, tandem trucks, backhoes, loaders, forklifts, chainsaws, and chippers.
Ability to thrive working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Customer-based approach when communicating with the public.
Flexibility and comfort with changing priorities and work tasks due to operational requirements and weather conditions.
A Police Record Check that is acceptable to the County will be required as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience with snow removal.
Previous experience with traffic control and flagging.

Responsibilities

Perform various winter maintenance activities such as sanding, salting, snow and ice removal.
Conduct maintenance and repair services to County roads.
Assist with road and roadside maintenance, including traffic control (flagging), sign repair and replacement, fence and guide rail installs and replacements, and road and culvert clean up and repairs.
Operate a one-person plow truck for sanding, salting, and plowing roads.
Operate front-end loaders to load trucks.
Perform routine inspection and maintenance of equipment.
Transport personnel, equipment, and materials between work sites throughout the County.
Work day and night shifts, including evenings and weekends as required for public safety during winter storms.
