About The Position

As the Wineaux General Manager/ Wine Director, you’ll lead our wine program—from expertly curating the wine list to managing service and coordinating events. You'll also train your team to deliver the unique Wineaux experience and foster relationships with vendors.

Requirements

  • Certified Sommelier (Intermediate or above preferred).
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in wine program management within high-end wine bars, restaurants, or retail.
  • Strong palate, excellent communication skills, and ability to engage diverse clientele.
  • Proven success in executing events, tastings, and wine education programs.
  • Demonstrated leadership, staff training ability, and vendor negotiation skills.
  • Passion for hospitality, attention to detail, and ability to thrive in a lively, social setting.

Responsibilities

  • Design, maintain, and update a curated wine list spanning approachable to rare bottles.
  • Lead wine-by-the-glass and bottle service during all operating hours, including weekend happy hours.
  • Host and facilitate guided wine tastings and events (e.g., regional focus nights like Rioja).
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team on wine + bite pairings, responsible for menu synergy.
  • Train and coach staff in wine knowledge, service techniques, and upsell strategies.
  • Work with wine club team to coordinate drop‑offs, concierge services, and events for Explorer/Aficionado members.
  • Build and maintain relationships with importers, distributors, and vineyards.
  • Monitor inventory, pricing, vendor contracts, and budget P&L for wine department.
  • Ensure compliance with liquor licensing, health, and safety regulations.
  • Foster a fun, engaging, personalized guest experience in line with Wineaux culture.
