About The Position

The individuals who perform this job provide extraordinary shopping experiences to our guests and stock merchandise. This role involves maintaining uniform standards, demonstrating superior product knowledge, and engaging with guests to understand and meet their needs. Responsibilities include recommending merchandise, answering product-related questions, building client relationships, and potentially operating a cash register or assisting with receiving. The position also requires preparing promotional events, arranging merchandise, maintaining the sales floor and stock areas, and ensuring accurate pricing. Feedback to management on product movement and stock levels is expected, as is participation in inventory processes. Employees are required to use and maintain computer and RF scanner equipment, continuously improve their skills, and adhere to workplace conduct policies regarding conversations with coworkers and cell phone usage. The role emphasizes teamwork, time management, stress management in a fast-paced environment, and adherence to safety regulations. Physical demands include regular standing, lifting, carrying, walking, bending, and reaching with products weighing 50 pounds or more, and occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds or more, as well as pushing and pulling significant weight. Communication with team members and guests, and clear vision for product and signage are essential. Cleaning duties, including bathrooms, may be assigned. Attendance and timeliness are required. This is not a remote sales job.

Requirements

• Must be over the age of 21 to work at Spec's.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions or memos.

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in both whole numbers and in fractions and decimals.

• Must maintain a valid TABC Beverage Sellers Permit.
• In some cases, a valid Food Handlers Permit is required.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds or more occasionally using proper lifting techniques and tools.
• Must be able to push and/or pull 50 to 100 pounds or more regularly.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Physical attendance based on a schedule made by management which may vary week to week based on the needs of the business.

Responsibilities

• Recommend merchandise based on the guests needs or desires, with a focus to suggest our in-house brands.
• Answer guests questions concerning price and use of merchandise.
• Create client relationships with regular guests.
• If needed, carry product to register counters and carry out products for guests.
• May be asked to run a cash register as business dictates.

• Prepare promotional events as necessary.
• Set up displays or arrange merchandise in floor stacks, on counters or tables, to promote sales.
• Front merchandise and rotate stock for freshness and stock shelves with product.
• Maintain neat and orderly sales floor and back stock.
• Clean shelves, bottles, aisles, and tables; look for product not stocked properly to avoid trips and falls.
• Maintain fresh and readable price tags on all products.
• Provide feedback to management regarding fast or slow-moving product, stock levels, out of stocks, and department needs.
• Prepare sales floor and storage areas for inventory and assist in the inventory process if needed.
• Properly use and maintain computers and RF scanner equipment.
• Seek to continually improve related skills and knowledge to contribute to profitability and productivity.
• Avoid conversations with coworkers when guests are present.
• Limit use of personal cell phone to work related activities only while on the sales floor.
• Carry out directives of management efficiently.
• Fulfill responsibilities with care and attention to detail.
• Practice teamwork and cooperation with others.
• Possess time management skills and be able to prioritize tasks.
• Ability to manage stress in a fast-paced environment.
• Work in accordance with all safety regulations of Specs Family Partners and OSHA.
• Constantly stand, lift, carry, walk, and bend, and reach products routinely weighing 50 pounds or more. Use arms, hands, and fingers to feel, handle, reach, and lift. Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds or more occasionally using proper lifting techniques and tools. Push and/or pull 50-100 pounds or more regularly. Communicate with and understand team members and guests. See product and signage.
