About The Position

This is a 6-month contract position for a Windows Systems Engineer. The role requires a strong focus on support and operational engineering within modern workplace technologies. The engineer will serve as a subject matter expert, providing technical leadership for solution design, development, testing, delivery, and operational support. The position involves daily operational support for corporate and store environments, including ticket management, documentation, and process improvement to reduce escalations. The engineer will also evaluate technologies, provide recommendations, and apply IT security standards. This role demands a high level of responsibility and decision-making authority for managing systems, analyzing and improving system design, configuration, and implementing automation, monitoring, and infrastructure management tools. The engineer will support, maintain, and troubleshoot infrastructure components, document resolution procedures, and develop processes to ensure corporate computing devices remain on approved operating systems, firmware, and configurations. Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders for planning and implementing new systems and enhancements is key. The role also involves providing project effort estimates, contributing to infrastructure strategy, and assisting with system deployments, upgrades, and lifecycle management. Preventing unauthorized configuration changes, producing audit reports, managing infrastructure asset inventory, and building strong relationships with field engineers and vendors are also responsibilities. Driving technical standards, continuous improvement, following production support processes, supporting operational reporting, and staying current on emerging technologies are essential. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience managing a modern corporate computing environment.
  • Experience developing support processes and creating technical documentation.
  • Advanced Windows troubleshooting expertise.
  • Hands-on experience with on-premises imaging and Windows Autopilot (zero-touch/light-touch provisioning).
  • Expert-level experience with MDM/MAM platforms supporting company-owned and BYOD devices, including phones, tablets, handhelds, and laptops.
  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise environments with 500+ locations.
  • Experience managing and optimizing both Active Directory and Entra ID across multiple domains.
  • Senior-level engineering experience in modern workplace technologies, with a strong focus on support and operational engineering.
  • Strong scripting and automation experience, including PowerShell and Ansible.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Ivanti Endpoint Manager, SCCM/MECM, and Intune is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for modern workplace technologies, providing technical leadership for solution design, development, testing, delivery, and operational support.
  • Own daily operational support for corporate and store environments, including ticket management, documentation, and process improvement to reduce escalations.
  • Evaluate technologies and provide recommendations based on business and operational requirements.
  • Apply and enforce IT security standards across existing and new technology solutions.
  • Manage systems with a high level of responsibility and decision-making authority.
  • Analyze and improve system design, configuration, hardware, software, and supporting utilities across the enterprise.
  • Implement and maintain tools for automation, monitoring, and infrastructure management.
  • Support, maintain, and troubleshoot infrastructure components while documenting resolution procedures.
  • Develop and maintain processes to ensure all corporate computing devices remain on approved and supported operating systems, firmware, and configurations.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to plan and implement new systems and enhancements.
  • Provide project effort estimates and timelines to team leads and project managers.
  • Contribute to infrastructure strategy and assist with planning system deployments, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
  • Prevent unauthorized configuration changes and produce audit reports to identify and remediate non-standard configurations.
  • Manage infrastructure asset inventory and build strong working relationships with field engineers and vendors.
  • Drive technical standards and continuous improvement to enhance service quality and responsiveness.
  • Follow established production support processes to maintain system availability and improve response times.
  • Support operational reporting and ensure service level commitments are met.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies and continuously expand technical knowledge and capabilities.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support business objectives.
