About The Position

GDIT is hiring a Windows Systems Administrator to maintain and develop Windows infrastructure in a classified and unclassified distributed environment. The role supports enterprise IT systems and requires an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph. The position is onsite at the customer site in Herndon, Virginia, and supports systems that require 24x7x365 uptime. Immediate response may be required to restore or maintain system functionality, including Tier 3 troubleshooting. Scheduled hours are 40 per week, and travel is less than 10%.

Requirements

10 or more years of Windows Systems Administration experience.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a similar relevant field, or equivalent experience.
Strong background in Microsoft Systems Engineering and support for those systems.
Experience with Microsoft operating systems, including Windows Server 2016 or later.
Active Directory expertise, including AD Sites and Services and replication health, Group Policy implementation including registry changes, permissions for user accounts, OUs and shares, DNS, DHCP, and LDAP integration with non-Microsoft applications.
Experience maintaining and managing Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), including software package creation and distribution, imaging virtual and physical Windows workstations and servers, patch management, and Windows Defender integration with MECM.
Strong knowledge of virtualization for Windows workstations and servers hosted within VMware.
Current experience in the Sponsor's classified and unclassified distributed work environment architectures and systems.
Experience managing a stand-alone Microsoft Certificate Authority.
Ability to respond immediately when needed to restore or maintain system functionality, including Tier 3 troubleshooting.
Familiarity with Jira and Confluence.
Active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.
U.S. citizenship.

Nice To Haves

MCSE certification.
Knowledge of security best practices and technologies, including patch management and Windows system hardening.
Familiarity with running and editing PowerShell scripts.
Knowledge of customer enterprise services and customer-specific compliance requirements.
Experience managing MFA implementations.
In-depth knowledge of VMware and ESXi.
Previous experience with storage devices, including NetApp.
Ability to understand and communicate technical ideas, concepts, and thoughts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience scripting system administration tasks in PowerShell.

Perform fault-finding, analysis, and logging of information to report performance exceptions.
Monitor system performance and conduct capacity planning.
Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, and hot fixes on servers and workstations.
Create and modify scripts or applications to perform tasks.
Recommend ways to improve the environment’s stability, security, efficiency, and scalability.
Collaborate with teams and team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes.
