About The Position

Peraton is seeking a Windows Systems Administrator to join their team. This role is responsible for maintaining the smooth operation of multi-user computer systems and coordinating activities with network engineers. The administrator will monitor and manage system resources to ensure optimal performance, perform system security administration, and set up administrator accounts. They will also tune and optimize system performance, install and manage system-wide software, and allocate mass storage resources. Additionally, the role involves interacting with users to resolve issues and gather requirements, evaluating vendor products, and providing recommendations for hardware and software purchases. The administrator will coordinate the installation of new hardware and software solutions, provide system backup and recovery support, and develop, implement, and monitor policies and standards for computing resources. This position operates within mission-critical DoD environments with strict timelines and requires the ability to work independently while supporting a larger team.

Requirements

  • 2 years with BS/BA; 0 years with MS/MA; 6 years with no degree
  • Active DoD Secret clearance
  • DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification, such as: Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+
  • Working knowledge of PowerShell for routine tasks, automation, and reporting
  • Familiarity with DoD STIGs, system hardening, and security compliance requirements
  • Experience with patching and updates using WSUS, SCCM/MECM, or similar tools
  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation and SOPs
  • Strong communication skills for working with users, engineers, and leadership
  • Ability to follow change management processes and support configuration control
  • Comfortable working in mission-critical DoD environments with strict timelines
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while supporting a larger team

Responsibilities

  • Maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems and coordinate activities with network engineers
  • Monitor and manage system resources, including CPU usage, disk utilization, and response times to ensure optimal performance
  • Perform system security administration tasks such as creating and managing user profiles and accounts
  • Set up administrator accounts and maintain accurate, up-to-date system documentation
  • Tune and optimize system performance across servers and applications
  • Install and manage system-wide software and allocate mass storage resources
  • Interact with users to resolve issues and gather requirements
  • Evaluate vendor products and provide recommendations for hardware and software purchases
  • Coordinate installation of new hardware and software solutions
  • Provide system backup and recovery support to ensure data integrity and availability
  • Develop, implement, and monitor policies and standards for the allocation and use of computing resources
