Window Installer (1099)

D5 Capital•Arvada, CO
•$150 - $200•Onsite

About The Position

As a 1099 Window Installer for K&H Home Solutions, you'll turn a homeowner's investment into a finished result they see and feel every day. You'll remove existing windows and install new, energy-efficient replacement windows on homes across the Denver metro area and Front Range, working independently to project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and K&H's quality standards. Precision matters in this role. A window that is properly measured, squared, insulated, and sealed performs better, lasts longer, and makes a home more comfortable and beautiful. Working in customers' homes means professionalism, cleanliness, and clear communication matter as much as technical skill. This is a 1099 independent contractor position, not a W-2 role: you'll bring your own tools, equipment, transportation, and insurance, and work under a Subcontractor Agreement.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in construction, carpentry, deck/patio structures, or similar outdoor living installation with strong workmanship standards and comfort working independently to project specs
  • At least 1 year of experience installing residential windows, or comparable exterior remodeling experience with a demonstrated ability to learn quickly
  • General Liability Insurance: $1,000,000 per occurrence / $2,000,000 aggregate, with StruXure/D5 Capital Holdings named as Additional Insured
  • Workers' Compensation coverage for any workers you employ (or a Declaration of Independent Contractor Status if working solo)
  • Auto Liability Insurance: $500,000 combined single limit (required for all vendors with jobsite delivery or presence)
  • Working knowledge of installation fundamentals, including flashing, shimming, insulating, sealing, and trim work
  • Own tools, equipment, and reliable transportation to job sites, along with a valid driver's license
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs (with assistance for larger units), climb ladders, and work at heights and in varying weather conditions
  • Valid business license (state/local, as applicable)
  • Ability to provide a completed W-9
  • Willingness to execute a Subcontractor Agreement prior to starting work
  • Ability to pass a background check, as this role involves working inside customers' homes

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience installing replacement windows on existing homes
  • Experience with multiple frame materials (vinyl, fiberglass, wood-clad, aluminum) and both insert and full-frame installation methods
  • EPA Lead-Safe Certified Renovator (RRP) certification, or willingness to obtain it
  • OSHA 10 certification or equivalent safety training
  • Experience installing doors, siding, or other exterior products
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus

Responsibilities

  • Review work orders, measurements, and installation details before each job, and confirm that windows, materials, and tools are on hand before heading to the site
  • Protect the customer's home by covering floors and furniture and setting up a clean, safe work area inside and out
  • Carefully remove existing windows, trim, and stops while minimizing damage to surrounding interior and exterior finishes
  • Inspect rough openings for rot, moisture damage, or structural concerns, and report findings to your K&H project contact before proceeding
  • Install replacement windows plumb, level, and square, using shims, flashing, sealant, and insulation in line with manufacturer specifications and applicable building codes
  • Complete interior and exterior finish work, including trim, caulking, and touch-ups, and test every window for smooth function, proper locking, and a weather-tight seal before signing off
  • Clean up thoroughly at the end of each day and at project completion, including removing debris and old materials from the property
  • Walk the homeowner through the completed work, answer basic questions, and pass along any concerns or change requests to K&H
  • Follow all safety procedures, including ladder and fall protection practices, proper use of PPE, and lead-safe work practices on older homes
  • Maintain your own tools, equipment, and vehicle in safe working condition, and promptly report material damage, shortages, or product defects
  • Complete job documentation, such as completion sign-offs and photos, accurately and on time

Benefits

  • Paid as a 1099 independent contractor at competitive per-project rates based on scope of work; estimated $150-200 per hour
  • Payment terms and schedule outlined in the Subcontractor Agreement
