About The Position

Bright Vision Technologies is seeking a highly experienced Windchill Technical Developer with 10+ years of experience in designing, developing, and supporting enterprise Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions using PTC Windchill. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Java, Windchill Java APIs, PTC customization frameworks, workflows, lifecycle management, and platform extensions, with a proven ability to build scalable, upgrade-friendly, and high-performance PLM solutions. This role combines hands-on development with technical leadership, architecture guidance, and mentorship across enterprise Windchill implementations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of professional Java development experience, including extensive hands-on experience with PTC Windchill customization and platform development.
  • Expert-level proficiency with Windchill Java API, PTC customization frameworks, and Windchill extension mechanisms.
  • Deep understanding of Windchill architecture, data model, lifecycle management, workflow engine, access control, and object model.
  • Strong expertise in Java, object-oriented design, multithreading, performance tuning, and enterprise software development.
  • Extensive experience with JSP, HTML, JavaScript, and Windchill client-side customization.
  • Hands-on experience with Type and Attribute Management (TAM), Object Initialization Rules (OIRs), lifecycle templates, and workflow customization.
  • Strong SQL skills with experience supporting Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server databases.
  • Proven experience supporting Windchill upgrades, migrations, performance optimization, and enterprise production environments.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, documentation, collaboration, and technical leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • PTC Windchill Certified Professional or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with PTC ThingWorx, Windchill RV&S (Integrity), Creo, Arbortext, or other PTC product integrations.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions for Windchill development.
  • Experience deploying or supporting Windchill in AWS, Microsoft Azure, or other cloud environments.
  • Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns, REST APIs, messaging technologies, and PLM-to-ERP integrations.
  • Experience supporting regulated industries such as Aerospace, Automotive, Medical Devices, Industrial Manufacturing, or Defense.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain advanced Java customizations within PTC Windchill, including custom services, listeners, processors, validators, helpers, and business logic extensions.
  • Extend the Windchill data model by implementing custom object types, attributes, relationships, and metadata using Type and Attribute Management (TAM).
  • Develop custom user interface components including JSP, HTML, JavaScript, custom actions, tables, wizard pages, dashboards, and UI extensions.
  • Build asynchronous processing solutions using Windchill queues, background processors, scheduled tasks, and event-driven components.
  • Design and implement complex workflow expressions, robot delegates, lifecycle automation, and approval processes using Java and Windchill workflow frameworks.
  • Optimize application performance through Java profiling, query optimization, caching strategies, JVM tuning, and efficient API utilization.
  • Ensure all customizations follow PTC-supported development practices, minimizing technical debt and enabling seamless future upgrades.
  • Lead modernization initiatives by migrating legacy customizations to supported PTC frameworks while maintaining backward compatibility and minimizing business disruption.
  • Perform architecture reviews, code reviews, and technical assessments to maintain engineering quality, scalability, security, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with functional consultants, solution architects, PLM administrators, and business stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into robust technical solutions.
  • Provide production support, troubleshoot complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive long-term platform stability.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, architecture diagrams, operational runbooks, coding standards, and design specifications.
  • Mentor development teams through code reviews, technical workshops, design sessions, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
