Xcel Energy is seeking a Wind Reliability Engineer to join their team. This role involves applying extensive technical expertise in renewable substation engineering and electrical balance-of-plant equipment. The engineer will serve as a staff advisor and consultant in areas such as renewable plant substations, collection systems, protective relaying, and high/medium voltage equipment reliability. Responsibilities include carrying out complex assignments related to asset health, equipment performance, maintenance strategies, troubleshooting, and reliability improvement initiatives. The work is expected to lead to the development of new or improved techniques, procedures, equipment, materials, processes, products, and/or scientific methods. The engineer will represent the organization as the primary technical contact for substation reliability projects, equipment failures, root cause investigations, and major capital project initiatives. This role involves interacting with senior external personnel and requires significant coordination between organizations. The engineer will work with considerable autonomy to determine technical objectives and their completed work will be reviewed from a long-term perspective. They may also assign tasks to and direct engineers, technicians, craft personnel, and administrative staff, and will be responsible for (and may lead) multiple projects of moderate to large size or portions of major projects.
