About The Position

Join the Pennsylvania Game Commission as a Wildlife Technician and help protect and support wildlife across the Commonwealth. This role gives you the chance to work outdoors, learn specialized skills, and make a real difference. Requirements

  • Graduation from an Associate Degree Program in Wildlife Management; or Any combination of experience or training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
  • Possession of a valid Pennsylvania motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Able to perform essential job functions.
  • Satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Capture, tag, and monitor birds and mammals using approved scientific methods
  • Collect biological specimens and prepare them for diagnostic testing
  • Monitor wildlife movements with technologies such as GPS, satellite, and VHF systems
  • Record and maintain data using required software and follow established protocols
  • Assist with regional activities including deer aging, CWD work, and bear check operations
  • Prepare materials and interact with the public during outreach events
