About The Position

ICF is seeking an On-Call Wildlife Biologist to join our team in the Sacramento Valley. This role involves conducting field surveys for special-status species, natural communities, and habitats. Responsibilities include walking transects, mapping habitat boundaries, trapping or collecting specimens, and identifying animals by sight and sound. The biologist will also perform environmental compliance monitoring at construction sites, including preconstruction clearance surveys and environmental awareness training, coordinating with construction crews, and responding to schedule changes. Additionally, the role requires evaluating project plans to determine potential impacts on biological resources and preparing daily field notes summarizing survey results and compliance with environmental permits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences, Environmental Science, or other related field of study.
  • 1+ years of experience.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience conducting surveys for Swainson’s hawk, burrowing owl, Valley elderberry longhorn beetle, giant garter snake, pond turtle, California tiger salamander, California red-legged frog, foothill yellow-legged frog.
  • Nesting bird/rail/raptor survey experience.
  • Experience with monitoring construction crews and overseeing environmental compliance.
  • Proficiency with data entry and formatting.
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Proficiency in use of GPS technology for navigation and data collection in the field.
