The firefighter is responsible for ensuring safe work practices in rugged terrain and around aviation resources and heavy machinery, adhering to suppression procedures, and performing site rehabilitation. Additional responsibilities include daily equipment inspections, testing, maintenance, cleaning, and ensuring the security of assigned gear. The role also involves maintaining crew vehicles, completing Fire Crew Training Standard exercises, maintaining high physical fitness, and participating in various specialized training sessions such as chainsaw use, field training, mock fire exercises, Hover Exit, Rappel, and first aid. Administrative tasks include preparing diaries and documenting activities. Furthermore, the position contributes to general maintenance and cleaning of base facilities, base improvement projects, community service, and supporting forest fire prevention programs. Specialized services like chainsaw operation for pest management are also part of the role. This position provides support for training activities and does not have formal supervisory responsibilities.
