About The Position

The Community Preparedness and Wildfire Prevention Program of the DNRC works with communities across Montana to create a more wildfire-resilient future by helping communities better live with fire as an ecosystem process while simultaneously reducing the number of human-caused wildfires. The DNRC seeks dedicated individuals for this seasonal, temporary wildfire preparedness job which may be offered in locations statewide. Employment is generally 3-6 months with work beginning in spring and ending in autumn. Applications are accepted each year beginning in January. Don’t be alarmed if you don’t hear from us right away – it may be spring before we start contacting applicants for interviews. These seasonal positions will be open until filled with our first review of applications starting mid to late February. Applications will be reviewed every two weeks until filled. Requirements

  • 18 years of age at time of hire.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • A valid driver's license is required with less than 12 conviction points in the most recently completed 36 months.
  • Must produce within three days of hire documents that show authorization to work in the United States. Examples of such documentation include a birth certificate or Social Security card along with a driver’s license or other picture I.D., or a U.S. passport, or a "green card".

Nice To Haves

  • The required knowledge, skills, and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to or in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in forestry, natural resources, environmental science, communication, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Community Preparedness & Wildfire Prevention Program to disseminate outreach and educational materials that inform Montana’s citizens on how they can better prepare for wildfire.
  • Keep MTFireInfo.org up to date with the most current wildfire restrictions and fire weather information.
  • Perform a variety of other program support, project management, and related duties as assigned by supervisors in support of the DNRC’s Forestry Division mission and objectives.
