Wilderness Camp Leader YMCA of Collier County, Inc. – Naples, FL Do you thrive in the outdoors and love teaching kids about nature, adventure, and environmental stewardship? Join the YMCA of Collier County and help create an unforgettable summer experience filled with exploration, teamwork, and discovery for youth in grades K–5. The Wilderness Camp Leader is a vital member of our summer team, providing direct supervision and leading engaging outdoor activities. Under the guidance of the Site Supervisor, this role ensures a safe, structured, and adventurous environment while fostering respect for nature and one another.
Requirements
- Experience working with school-age children
- Knowledge of outdoor safety practices and risk management
- Strong leadership and group management skills
- Energetic, responsible, and comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
Nice To Haves
- Background in outdoor education, environmental science, recreation, or related field preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision to campers (K–5th grade), ensuring safety at all times
- Plan and lead outdoor activities such as hiking, nature exploration, team challenges, and environmental education
- Teach basic outdoor skills and promote environmental awareness
- Maintain and organize outdoor equipment and program supplies
- Follow YMCA policies and safety procedures
- Build positive relationships with campers and families
- Model YMCA core values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility
