About The Position

The Toledo Zoo & Aquarium has been educating, inspiring, and providing enjoyment to our community for over 100 years. Our employees are instrumental in ensuring that over 720 species of animals, including endangered wildlife, are maintained, researched, and protected. We are currently seeking a Full-Time Wild Toledo Biologist to join our Conservation Department. The Wild Toledo program performs unique conservation work in Northwest Ohio and in your role, you would be an integral part of conservation efforts put forth by the Toledo Zoo. Under general supervision, this individual assists with all aspects of the Wild Toledo program. They work with the Wild Toledo Coordinator and Director of Plant Conservation regarding the implementation and management of Wild Toledo initiatives, conservation education outreach, collection and collation of field data for diverse taxa, ecological restoration, and writing reports. In this role you must be able to demonstrate working knowledge in nursery operations, conservation biology themes, techniques and a willingness to learn additional, along with being able to effectively pass on the necessary information to others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, biology, environmental Science, or related field or an Associate’s degree with relevant experience in nurseries/conservation that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Must be at least 21+ years of age.
  • Must have a valid drivers’ license and be insurable by the fleet insurance carrier.
  • The Toledo Zoo is a drug-free workplace, including marijuana.
