The WIC Peer Counselor is responsible for promoting breastfeeding within the community and clinic, including outreach activities. This role involves organizing breastfeeding promotion events, participating in conferences, and attending department training. The counselor will provide advanced breastfeeding support to patients with minor issues, conduct hospital visits, and counsel pregnant and nursing mothers individually on breastfeeding methods and problem prevention. Additionally, the counselor will teach nutrition education classes, distribute breastfeeding information, and oversee the issuance and use of breast pumps. The position requires attending monthly WIC staff meetings and supporting other clerical team members as needed.
