The SDSU Research Foundation Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program is the largest WIC agency in San Diego County, serving over 26,000 participants monthly. The WIC program is a safety net initiative designed to safeguard the health of low-income women, infants, and children up to age 5 who are at nutrition risk by providing nutritious foods, information on healthy eating, and referrals to health care for residents of San Diego County. The WIC Nutrition Services Assistant, under the direction of the Assistant Director and Registered Dietitian Supervisor, is responsible for a variety of clerical duties supporting WIC program operations. This role involves providing customer service to program participants and applicants, educating participants on non-nutrition issues such as program orientation and the use of food benefits, and determining the eligibility of WIC participants. The position requires travel to other WIC Offices in the San Diego region as needed and includes training for eligibility to become a certified California WIC Nutrition Assistant (WNA).
