About The Position

Serves as the WIC Nutrition Assistant (with Supervision) for WIC participants. Also works as National Voter Registration Act Coordinator, while covering duties as receptionist and clerical support, as needed. Provides WIC Services, including Nutrition counseling and support, distributes WIC electronic benefits, and Farmer’s Market vouchers.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge of basic nutrition principles and health resources in the clinic and community.
Good communication skills and techniques.
Engagement via telephone or in person.
Ability to assist participants in filling out Nutrition questionnaires, if needed.
Must be insurable and at least 21 years of age.
Must submit a current DMV record.
Possess current CPR certification or obtain within the first 90 days.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical and background investigation.
Must provide a copy of current immunization record.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of WIC Wise system and WIC policies and procedures preferred.
Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

Provides WIC Services, including Nutrition counseling and support.
Distributes WIC electronic benefits and Farmer’s Market vouchers.
Works as National Voter Registration Act Coordinator.
Covers duties as receptionist and clerical support, as needed.
Assists in receiving all incoming telephone calls for the Nutrition/WIC Department and routes calls to appropriate staff or takes an accurate message.
Assists participants in filling out Nutrition questionnaires, if needed.
Notifies participants when medical information is needed or lacking.
Refers to special services or community support services when necessary.
Performs dietary assessment, evaluation, individual counseling, and certification for lower risk participants.
Refers higher risk clients to the Nutritionist, when needed.
Assists in eligibility determinations from medical information, dietary evaluation, and other qualification parameters.
Ensures that all WIC staff receive in-person or self-paced NVRA training, once every twelve (12) months for existing staff and within 3 months of hiring new staff.
Assists completing the voter registration card to eligible WIC applicants/participants or family representative/caretaker.
