Catholic Charities of Buffalo has an exciting opportunity for a part-time Nutrition Assistant at our Kenmore, NY office within our Nutritional Health program. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Basic Computer Skills.
  • Must have reliable transportation, with the ability to travel to WIC clinics, training, and meeting locations (sometimes in the middle of the workday)
  • Applicants must reside in New York State to be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience working with children is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinic and office support to the Nutrition Staff.
  • Assist participants with WIC Health online nutrition education.
  • Provide Participant Centered Nutrition Services (PCNS) by phone or in person.
  • Set the tone for excellent customer service to participants as they enter the clinic.
  • Orient/educate participants about the WIC program.
  • Make appointment reminders and no-show calls.
  • Participate in National Voter Registration Activities.
  • Collect information for the nutrition assessment process, including income eligibility, review of the WIC Medical Referral Form and other documents.
  • Obtain anthropometric (heights and weights) and hematological (bloodless iron level), as trained. Maintain quality control logs.
  • Participate in breastfeeding promotion and support.
  • Provide and document referrals to health and social services and other community partners.
  • Identify and refer participants to Nutrition Staff.
  • Attend staff meetings, Catholic Charities, NYWIC, and NYSDOH trainings.
  • Assist Customer Service Representatives with phone duties as needed.
  • Comply with the Agency's Compliance Program, Code of Ethics, laws, regulations, and ethical standards applicable to your position in the WIC program and Catholic Charities.
  • Travels to all sites and transports laptops, computers, and other equipment to sites.
  • May have to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
