Performs laboratory and anthropometric procedures required for WIC certifications following MDCH/OSHA protocol, including height, weight, head circumference, hemoglobin, and blood lead. Responsible for completing and documenting Quality Control measures for hematological procedures. Enters collected data and lead results into MIWIC and GLBHC’s Electronic Medical Record system. Completes necessary documents for lead samples and mails them to appropriate sites. Accesses MCIR to retrieve immunizations and lead status information for client certifications, and prints MCIR reports as requested. Answers telephones, determines call handling, and schedules appointments. Assists receptionists in maintaining clinic flow by greeting clients, activating records, generating benefits, issuing shopping lists, collecting demographic data, and making reminder calls. Maintains an adequate supply of program and lab materials, keeping the workstation well-stocked. Directs clients to other health center staff. Stays current on breastfeeding policy and encourages breastfeeding. If bilingual, translates for non-Spanish speaking providers. Performs other duties as necessary to maintain WIC caseload, such as Outreach and assisting with Project Fresh. Maintains a clean and uncluttered work area.
