About The Position

Making Opportunity Count's mission is to empower families to achieve economic security by eliminating barriers and creating opportunities. To alleviate poverty, we deliver a variety of services including childcare, education, workforce development, nutrition, health, and community and housing support. The WIC Communication Support Coordinator is responsible for communication and technical support duties to meet the overall needs of the program. Follows all protocols and/or regulations for MA WIC program.

Requirements

  • Five years of experience working within a WIC program, preferably providing all the essential duties of this position
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One year's general office experience with proficient computer skills
  • Proven ability to work autonomously
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in health care or community facility preferred
  • Sensitivity to the needs of the participant population

Responsibilities

  • Answers and directs phone calls
  • Manages the Tele-task system
  • Triages and corresponds to emails/ EFAX
  • Processes On-line applications
  • Reviews reports to ensure caseload management and identifies opportunities for improvement
  • Screens applicant inquiries for eligibility
  • Manage appointment scheduling/rescheduling including reminder phone calls
  • Educate and explain participant’s rights and responsibilities, WIC foods, and using benefits at authorized vendors telephonically
  • Anthropometric and hematological data management
  • Dietary and nutritional risk assessment
  • Provide telephonic or telehealth-based interpreter services as needed by program
  • Food package assignment
  • Provide telephonic counseling and education
  • Data entry needed to support the WIC program
  • Process health and social service referrals
  • Provides telephonic follow-up nutrition education
  • Processes referrals to Mass Health, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Transitional Aid to Families of Dependent Children (TAFDC) programs, and other health and human service programs
  • Manages client notifications for end of certification, missed benefits, and/or ineligibility to receive WIC benefits
  • (Re)issuing of food/formula prescription benefits
