About The Position

AccessHealth Community Health Center is seeking a talented WIC Clerk to join their team. This is a full-time position with a day shift schedule. The WIC Clerk will perform clinical, technical, and clerical support necessary for the WIC certification process and the issuance of WIC food benefits. The role involves determining participant eligibility, providing clinical WIC services, maintaining records, and supporting daily WIC operations. The position also includes promoting breastfeeding, participating in outreach, and ensuring client confidentiality and good customer service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One-year work experience, preferably in the health field.
  • Ability to work with people of all socioeconomic levels.
  • Ability to organize work, develops procedures, and follows instructions.
  • Ability to coordinate heavy correspondence including confidential documents.
  • Ability to maintain confidence regarding information processed.
  • High ethical standards.
  • Well-organized and self-directed.
  • Good keyboarding skills and legible handwriting.
  • Team player.
  • Ability to relate to people at all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects.
  • Ability to travel between sites.

Responsibilities

  • Answer phones, make appointments and perform tasks necessary for transfer of participants to and from the local agency.
  • Determine participant categorical, financial and residential eligibility according to WIC policy.
  • Provide clinical WIC services necessary for eligibility, including recording 24-hour diet recall, weighing, measuring and graphing, and testing for blood hemoglobin levels.
  • Provide appropriate participant referrals.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records.
  • Perform clerical and automation support tasks necessary for WIC daily reports, certification, nutrition education classes, food delivery and transfer of information to the WIC State Agency.
  • Promote breast-feeding as the preferred infant feeding method.
  • Take active role in outreach activities.
  • Take active role in increasing and maintaining WIC participant number.
  • Take active role in supporting LA29’s vision and mission.
  • Screen infants and children for current immunization status and make appropriate referrals.
  • Inventory office supplies, medical supplies and equipment as assigned.
  • Prepare required WIC end of the month reports.
  • Provide client confidentiality and good customer service.
  • Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein as may be assigned or delegated by the WIC supervisor or nutritionist.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by management.
