This role provides oversight, monitoring, and reporting on operational risks for Capital Markets and Commercial Banking. It involves developing and monitoring the operational management framework, including governance practices, to manage operational risks across BMO. The position provides policies, standards, methodologies, and controls to enhance transparency, accuracy, and consistency. It also involves working with stakeholders to implement methodologies, metrics, and program standards for the assigned portfolio to ensure compliance, effective monitoring, timely reporting, and identification of action plans. The analyst acts as a trusted advisor, guides issue identification and classification, recommends action plans, and influences to achieve business objectives. They recommend and implement solutions based on analysis, assist in strategic plan development, identify emerging issues, and research requirements and best practices. The role also involves assisting with the interpretation of regulations, assessing impacts on governance frameworks, and determining business priorities. Independent analysis is conducted to resolve strategic issues, and the analyst leads the development and maintenance of the governance system and framework. They support strategic initiatives, represent the model validation program for audits, ensure stakeholder alignment, and coordinate database management. Change management activities, including readiness assessments, planning, stakeholder management, execution, evaluation, and sustainment, are also part of the role. Additionally, the analyst leads the monitoring, measurement, and reporting of the operational risk governance program, manages governance meetings, and may provide specialized support for other regulatory requirements. They participate in the design, implementation, and management of core business processes, administer operational risk program activities, and identify potential risk situations, making recommendations or escalating as needed. Developing in-depth knowledge of the business, risk management requirements, and regulatory directives is crucial. Building effective relationships with stakeholders, analyzing data for insights and recommendations, monitoring performance, and coordinating attestation reviews are key responsibilities. The role also involves maintaining tools and templates for operational risk programs and may have a broader, enterprise-wide focus. Specialized consulting, analytical, and technical support is provided, with independent problem-solving and handling of non-routine situations.
