About The Position

Accountable for managing business-critical processes across a line of business or corporate function. This includes overseeing critical data elements (CDEs) within their assigned Data Domains and overseeing enterprise-wide coordination of Data Domain-related activities as part of the policies, standards, and best practices in alignment with data management and governance. Accountable for onboarding CDEs and business metadata, defining appropriate CDE Data Quality rules and controls for their corresponding Data Domain, maintaining, and populating the Business Glossary and supporting and resolving Data Quality issues as part of the Data Quality Issue Management Group. Prepare data sharing and data delivery agreements for data sharing outside given Business Unit or Corporate Group, and specifically delineate what data is being shared, limitations on use along with restrictions on dissemination to other parties, systems, or applications. Further accountable for defining data privacy rules and aligning them with the Enterprise Privacy Policy in collaboration with Chief Privacy Officer. Define archiving, retention, and data destruction requirements for CDEs for corresponding Business Unit or Corporate functions in collaboration with the CDAO and Chief Privacy Officer.

Requirements

  • Equivalent combination of advanced education and related experience, which could include any combination of: 8-10 years of experience managing business processes or experience in technical-related decisions on the business side
  • Ability to translate enterprise strategic planning information into software and data management needs, create business plans, and turn them into effective business solutions.
  • Executive level communications skills, including, strong negotiation/facilitation/presentation skills and experience negotiating with vendors for relevant products and services.
  • Significant knowledge of current and emerging application software products and tools
  • Extensive project management experience to include multi-million dollar projects completed on time, within budget and delivering quality results
  • Strong analytical and architectural skills
  • Ability to manage a high volume of internal client relationships
  • Knowledge of all phases of software engineering life cycle and experience with process improvement models

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business analytics, computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role, preferably in a financial institution with a focus on financial crimes prevention
  • Extensive knowledge of Data and Analytics including emerging trends
  • Strong understanding of banking operations, risk management, and regulatory compliance
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Project management experience and proficiency in managing budgets

Responsibilities

  • Definition and validation of a business critical process and the associated critical data elements (CDEs) that support them.
  • Business Metadata Management: Onboard new CDEs, propose new CDEs and Data Domains, review assigned CDEs and their business metadata, discover and execute CDE change requests, submit CDE change requests for approval, perform business process and traceability mapping, review trusted source assignments.
  • Data Quality: Define Data Quality rules and standards, collaborate and coordinate with Data Quality Lead and team to align Data Quality rules and standards with enterprise-level rules, partner with Technical Business Stewards to enroll and implement Data Quality rules, monitor Data Quality activities, track data issues and risks, develop associated mitigation strategies, participate in Data Quality Issue Management Group and provide Corporate Group- or Business Unit-specific information, escalate Data Quality issues and considerations as necessary to the Enterprise Data Governance Council, assist in resolving Data Quality Issues.
  • Enterprise Metadata Repository / Metadata Catalogue: Onboard new CDEs’ related business metadata, update central metadata repository with business metadata content, review CDEs’ metadata, discover and execute CDE metadata update requests, get CDE metadata change requests approved.
  • Data Privacy, Security, Retention and Archiving: Define Data Privacy rules and align them with the Enterprise Privacy Policy, define archiving, retention, and data destruction requirements for CDEs, monitor data security for data elements, report or escalate data privacy issues, review data requirements to enable compliance with Privacy Policy and other similar corporate policies and documents, enable the application of corporate strategy, policy, and ethics for all consumers of data, monitor data for alignment with national and regional regulations as well as with corporate ethical standards.
  • Data Sharing, Access Control and Data Transfer: Define Data Privacy rules and align them with the Enterprise Privacy Policy, define archiving, retention, and data destruction requirements for CDEs, monitor data security for data elements, report or escalate data privacy issues, review data requirements to enable compliance with Privacy Policy and other similar corporate policies and documents, enable the application of corporate strategy, policy, and ethics for all consumers of data, monitor data for alignment with national and regional regulations as well as with corporate ethical standards.
